3 Live Chats Later I’m Online

Woooohoooo, I’m officially online under the umbrella of “Kel Me About It”.

I’m seriously excited about this.

It’s been roughly a two-week ordeal to get online, but for the most part, that’s been my fault. To get here, I had to:

1. Sign up for a new hosting plan so I save $$$$ compared to my previous hosting (pretty much what triggered this whole new-blog thing).
2. Transfer the sites to the new hosting plan.
3. Transfer my old domain (for my previous blog – I’m still hosting that until the domain expires next year)
4. Register my new domain.
5. Prove that I’m a human and sign my life away.
6. Create a site, start editing it, realise I broke something, delete it.
7. Do a live chat to get my old domain transferred to my site on the new hosting.
8. Create a new site.
9. Point my new domain (kelmeaboutit.au) to my new site.
10. Break something else – first live chat.
11. They fixed it, “will be 24 – 48 hours”.
12. They pointed the wrong domains to the wrong sites…at one point my old domain pointed to this blog, and vice versa. Second live chat. “24 hours”.
13. They got it wrong again. Third live chat.
14. A few screenshots and discussions and bam, third time lucky.

Technically the site was online last night, but with the security certificate registration, and me not really caring to stay up until midnight, figured it would be a tonight thing.

Right now I’m chilling on the couch, watching the state of origin (iconic rugby league series in Australia), and trying to stay awake.

Now that the hard(est) work is done, I suppose it’s time to get real about publishing this thing!

Next steps are to update the old Kelly’s World facebook page (I’m hijacking that to become a Kel Me About It page), and my link on my account on Instagram. I did register a separate account for it but I’m not convinced I’ll post under there a lot. To be honest, I rarely post under my old one now too, part of my whole “withdrawing from social media thing”. Silly, since I write a blog, but eh.

All I can say is that I’m pretty bloody relieved it’s finally online. There was a lot of tweaking of the theme, writing my first few posts, and a brand new About page. I’m sure I’ve broken a few things or overlooked something, but I’ll fix it as I become aware of it. If you do notice anything, please let me know.
