Five Things for Friday (vol. 9)

I’m typing this late on Friday night, when I should be in bed, and sleeping.

But… I’m not.

Earlier, I was watching Phil Gore crack 168k in fundraising by running crazy miles. Right now I’m watching the Alex Warren concert being livestreamed on TikTok. It’s a watch party with a friend of mine who lives in Japan.

So, why not get my Five Things for Friday done on time as well?

Ordered my 2027 planner

This morning, my favourite planner in the whole world launched their 2027 edition. If you haven’t heard of my favourite planner before, let me tell you (or you can probably read literally any other post of mine because it feels like I’m always talking about it).…

August Gratitude Speed Round (Days 20 to 26)

Oof, I am well behind in posting my daily gratitude updates. First, being sick meant I had bugger all energy, and then I’ve just been busy with life in general.

But things are good, and tracking in the right direction finally!

Anyway, let’s do a speed round of gratitude so that I can catch up.

Gratitude Prompts

If you’re new to the blog, these gratitude prompts came from The Optimistic Muse. I was originally trying to post them daily, but as mentioned, I fell off the wagon for a bit.

So, without further ado, here are the last few days (oh my god, nearly a week) of gratitude:

  • Day 20 – Take a photo of something beautiful. I looked at my phone, and the only photos I took that day were of our kitchen.

Five Things for Friday (vol. 8)

You guys, it’s been a week. I’m tired. I’m ready for bed. But I haven’t blogged in a few days so I wanted to get one posted tonight.

I’ve been trying to prioritise sleep, because most of this week my “sleep” has been more like “intermittent dozing between coughing”.

The sinus infection is still here

I want to say I’m getting better, but I don’t know. I suppose the green gunky stuff isn’t as green and gunky, so there’s that.

But I’m still taking forever to get to sleep, and I’ve nearly gone through an entire bottle of cough syrup on my own this week. I’m taking one of those fancy dry cough ones that contain dextromethorphan. Apparently, it turns off the cough signals in the brain, to which my brain just replies with “Ha!…

A cough and a fresh start

After yet another night of crappy sleep, I finally threw in the towel and took the day off work. I hate it when I feel OK but just can’t sleep because I’m coughing so much. It was an absolute challenge to get my son ready for school today, and as soon as I sat at my desk to work, I knew I wasn’t going to last.

So I rescheduled my meetings, called in sick, and went back to bed.

Turns out it was a good move. I napped…ish…for about two hours. I don’t feel like I ever got a deep sleep, but it was enough that I finally had some energy.

The rest of the day I spent working on my puzzle and then contemplating some of the 52s that I’m working on.…

Sunshine Coast Wine Expo + August Gratitude Catch-Up

Here I was, all proud of my blogging streak, and then I fell off the wagon quite a bit. It’s not that I didn’t want to write, but more that we had things on, and then I prioritised rest and sleep.

I’m still dealing with this sinus infection. The thing is, I feel ok, just exhausted. And my throat is absolutely trashed. We went to a wine expo on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday, mainly because we had spent $80 per ticket for the two of us, and given that I wasn’t contagious, we didn’t want that going to waste.

So, I frocked up, straightened my hair, and off we went.

It was hosted at the Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the restaurant on the top floor.…

Five Things for Friday (vol. 7)

It’s Friday, and here’s five things.

1: I’m having a bath

I could electrocute myself at any time but I’m living on the edge. Kidding.

Anyway, I’m still feeling yuk, so after sitting out by the fire with my husband for a bit, he kindly ran a bath for me to soak in. He even added scented Epsom salts, he’s so sweet.

I still feel blah tho. Thank god for cold and flu meds.

2: I started a puzzle this week

Whenever we go places and I see puzzles, I want to stop everything I’m doing just to get a piece in. It’s just so dang enticing!

When I visited a friend last weekend I took a puzzle with me but we didn’t end up doing it.…
