5 things on a Friday

I’ve seen this topic trend on other blogs, and I love the idea. It’s also 9 pm, but I randomly wanted to smash out a post before bed, so here we are.

It’s going to be my highest quality writing ever, duh.

Let’s see how many typos I can make.

Almost caught up on reading blogs

I am so excited that I’ve almost caught up on reading the backlog of blog posts, thanks to all the new blogs I discovered!

As of right now, there are only 16 unread posts!

This means I can get back to writing comments on everyone’s posts, and sharing in a bit of the community love. Comments are always fun and welcome *hint hint*.

Then, of course, I’ll be on the hunt for some more now that I’ve gotten into a routine with reading, so if you know some good sites, please keep recommending them!…

First up in “Just Make It June” (DIY faux leather earrings with a Silhouette Cameo)

Last month I did a stocktake of my office and… yikes. Supplies everywhere. Faux leather, wooden letters, candle wax, wicks, the works. Stuff I’d picked up with great intentions and then just left there.

And to make it worse, I wanted to buy more.

So I put myself on a buying ban, and “Just make it June” was born. My challenge for the month: make as many craft things as I can using what I’ve already got sitting around. No new purchases. Use the stuff. Simple!

These were the craft supplies I pulled out

The first project in my sights was to make earrings. It’s on my list of 52-in-52 for 2026 (52 things in 52 weeks), and I already had everything I needed.…

Late nights, lost games, and a broken bike

Hoo boy, I stayed up late last night watching the State of Origin, and I’m pooped! I’ll be drinking all the coffee today.

For my international readers, the State of Origin is an Australian rugby league football series, best out of three games. It’s played state against state, Queensland vs New South Wales. Professional rugby league players are selected to play for the state where they played their first senior game. It’s arguably more important than the actual club Rugby League series. It’s divisive, and people are extremely passionate about their chosen state. The game has a lot of history, supposedly the first interstate game was played in 1908, and there has been fights, blood, sweat, and tears.

And so much banter.…

What I Got Up To This Weekend (Craft Fails, a Movie, and a Cleanout)

The weekend flew past, but it was full of some great wins.

Though, I really need to learn to go to bed on time. Especially when I’ve got the time to myself to sleep in.

Me Time

I got some solid crafting time in this weekend. My husband and son went to Brissie to house sit for our in laws, and earlier in the week my husband had suggested I stay home if I wanted some “me time”. Of course I was down for that, which left me with Friday night and all of Saturday to potter around.

I have no idea how to not be busy, so instead of relaxing or slothing, I did a heap of stuff. So I’m still pretty knackered from the weekend, but it was incredibly fulfilling.…

8 Years Old and the Focus of a Distracted Dog

Why is it so hard to get one single child ready for school? And why is it that screeching “Get your socks and shoes on” or “BRUSH YOUR TEETH” doesn’t work?

8 years old…and the skills of a distracted dog enticed by a squirrel.

This morning has been hectic. I stayed up a little bit too late for the second night in a row. Late by my standards anyway, which is “I’m not in bed by 10pm” which basically feels like an all nighter these days.

I’m working on a project that I’m super excited about, which I’ll be sure to let you know about when I can, but it means that I’m now lacking a bit of sleep.…
