5 Things for Friday (on a Saturday)

I missed publishing my post yesterday, mainly because it was such a hectic day that after work I ended up on the couch falling asleep on my husband’s lap. But I wanted to get this posted, so here we are.

No sinus surgery required

A few weeks ago I mentioned going to see my doc for a few things, one of them being my sinus. I was told when I was young I had a deviated septum, and as an adult sometimes breathing through my nose is tough. So we decided to get it checked out, especially since I tend to get sinus infections semi-regularly.

Well, it turns out that I don’t have a deviated septum, nor any polyps, or any other reason that I need surgery. So, that’s a relief in one sense.

As for my regular post-nasal drip and sinus infections, this can be treated using a standard care routine: nasal spray for hay fever, nasal rinses when I get a cold, and some tablets if I ever need to dry stuff up.

The working theory is it could be hay fever or rhinitis. But, good thing I don’t have to worry about surgery at least.

Wine-inspired nails

We have a wine tasting and pizza night event tonight with friends. When I was picking a nail colour this week, my husband suggested that I mani-match with wine. So, here we are.

Burgundy Glamrdip manicure with glitter accent nail

The colour is “Trophy” by Glamrdip, with “Special Edition” on the ring fingers. I’m not sure of the embellishment, but it did earn a compliment from the lady at the coffee shop. I’ll take it!

Estrogen sunscreen

I was chatting with a friend about Estrogel, and mentioned how I only found out from an Instagram post how I’d been applying it totally wrong.

That sent us down on a deep dive of reading the instructions. Turns out they also recommend applying from wrist to shoulder, to which I joked it was almost like applying sunscreen (albeit using the lid to rub it in and not my hands).

You guys…it dries SO much faster when you spread it further.

DUH.

*facepalm

Am I allowed to blame being dumb on perimenopause too?

In other news, I only have to wait a couple of minutes for it to dry now.

Also I laugh every single time I see this reel, because it’s accurate as heck.

All the countdowns

I don’t think I’ve ever had so many count downs in my life. It’s an exciting few months!

  • On September 29th, the next Rebecca Yarros book in the Fourth Wing universe is coming out: Threshing Day. I bought the hardcover with the gorgeous sprayed pages from Booktopia, which…the link is no longer available. Hoping that’s not a bad omen.

  • The next two books in the ACOTAR series. A Court of Splintered Harmony will be released on October 27th. A Court of Forgotten Melody is then due on 12th January 2027. I didn’t love the ACOTAR series (much prefer Throne of Glass and Aelin) but still want to read them and continue the series.
  • Our family holiday is less than a month away. I am really looking forward to shutting down the work computer, and having a few days offline away from the internet. I might be more excited about being unplugged than the holiday (kidding).

There is so much goodness coming!! It’s going to be a very fun end to the year.

What are you most looking forward to at the moment? Have you ever realised you’ve been doing something wrong because you didn’t read the instructions?

Oh I love your nails! They look fantastic!

Elisabeth

I’m so glad you don’t need surgery and those nails are GORGEOUS! Love, love, LOVE the colour. I have something similar (Drop the Beet) and love it. Such a versatile colour.

Melissa

i will be relying on my daughter to sort out a copy of Threshing Day when it comes out. I’m sure she will be all over it and I can just sit back and wait for her to finish it and then read her copy.

The first time I filled my prescription the pharmacist gave me detailed instructions for applying it so I guess that was lucky, although my doctor was pretty thorough in that respect too.

That’s good news that you don’t need surgery. I also have issues with post nasal drip causing a dry cough and had to use the nasal spray for a few months to clear it up. The nasal wash really helps when I have a cold as long as i remember to use it
