Earlier this week I wrote about the loss of personal blogs, and how hard they’ve become to find. I mentioned how much I love reading about the everyday lives of others — just the mundane stuff.
And that’s when it clicked that I don’t even write about the mundane anymore.
Somewhere along the way, I started putting pressure on myself to make every post feel monumental. Super polished. Walk away, come back another day, edit it again until it’s “right”. It’s no wonder I slowly drifted away from blogging last year.
If I’m trying to teach myself to embrace imperfection, why wouldn’t that extend to my blog too?
Why can’t I write an everyday post (likely full of errors) that’s fun to write and hopefully fun to read?
So, here we are.
Raw. Light editing. Talking about random, everyday stuff.
Anyway, here’s my week.
My week that was
It’s been a pretty good week. I’ve been working hard on my work/life balance, which means I don’t let myself start work early anymore. Instead, my mornings are spent doing a workout, walking the dog with my son, and pottering around with my craft and hobbies.
I made some pretty decent progress on my 52-in-52 list too.
I also made some decent progress on my 52-in-52 list.
iFit Badges
One of my goals is to earn an iFit badge on my indoor bike or treadmill every month this year. Stretch goal is to complete one every month on both. I kicked the week off by finishing my final cycling session, and now I’m only three workouts away from completing the treadmill one.
Lettering practice continues
I’ve also continued to practice my lettering every morning. There’s something ridiculously enjoyable about just slowing down and tracing shapes. I’ve also decided I’m going to dabble in trying to learn how to draw kawaii images, the cute little Japanese characters.
A friend of mine, Emily, has encouraged me to even give watercolours a go. That sounds like a super fun challenge! I think maybe towards the middle of the year, I’ll buy one of the little kits and follow a few sessions online. In the meantime, Emily sent me on an Instagram spiral, looking at all the videos of Andrea Nelson. Her watercolours are spectacular, and the tutorials seem really good to follow along.
Capsule Wardrobe Progress
I also started on another 52: creating a capsule wardrobe. The idea is a minimal collection of clothes where everything works together.
Step one was going through my existing wardrobe and donating anything that no longer fit, or (thanks KonMari) didn’t bring me joy.
Two donation bags later, I’m left with half a drawer of activewear and clothes that are either white, black, denim… or one lone striped shirt. I think I might have been a bit wild and even kept a single red shirt, and one that’s army green.
Spot the girl who needs to learn how to dress with a bit of colour and pattern.
It was quite fun to see my weight loss progress through the years in active wear! Every year that I participate in the Run Down Under virtual run, I get a singlet and a medal. I started in 2020.
Based on my current mileage, I’m not predicted to finish for almost 10 years. Hilarious! Silver lining – I’m going to have a lot more singlets to collect.

Round up
Other than that, my week was mostly filled with work.
I did cop a pretty nasty migraine on Thursday, which meant a full day in a dark room and not being able to handle light until about 4pm. The groggy, almost-hungover feeling didn’t properly lift until Friday afternoon.
And that’s been my week.
It’s honestly refreshing to write about the everyday without overthinking it or trying to turn it into something bigger than it needs to be. Sometimes, just showing up and writing is enough.
I hope everyone has been having a great week!
