5 Things for Friday (on a Saturday)

I missed publishing my post yesterday, mainly because it was such a hectic day that after work I ended up on the couch falling asleep on my husband’s lap. But I wanted to get this posted, so here we are.

No sinus surgery required

A few weeks ago I mentioned going to see my doc for a few things, one of them being my sinus. I was told when I was young I had a deviated septum, and as an adult sometimes breathing through my nose is tough. So we decided to get it checked out, especially since I tend to get sinus infections semi-regularly.

Well, it turns out that I don’t have a deviated septum, nor any polyps, or any other reason that I need surgery.…

52 in 52 update: digital tomatoes, green Noosa, and 19 to go

Illustrated 52 in 52 checklist with the words “52 in 52 update: digital tomatoes, green Noosa, and 19 to go”

Phew. Another month down, another giant step towards the end of the year. Let’s see how that 52 list is going (52 things to do in 52 weeks).

Use a timer to take stretch breaks at work

I mentioned recently that I did some time tracking for a week to see where my time went. Well, that was the start of getting back into the habit of having stretch breaks for work.

When you work from home, it’s very easy to fall into the bad habit of slouching and working for way too long without a break. Using a timer definitely helps with that, as did my recent upgrade to an electric standing desk. I’m finding that weeks on, I’m still using it very regularly (about 4 times today in fact, for maybe about 30-40 mins each time).…

Camping weekend at Borumba Deer Park

Camping weekend at Borumba Deer Park

Another busy week in the books, with lots of stuff going on each night and not much time to write. But we wrapped up the weekend by camping with the family for some much-needed time to get away.

Camping Weekend

I feel like whenever I set foot in our caravan, my body just instinctively knows it’s time for the circadian rhythm to reset. The sun goes down, and within an hour I’m ready for bed. Someone might need to pass that memo on to our dog; the first night he thought it was party time in the caravan.

We stayed at Borumba Deer Park on the Sunshine Coast.

August Reading Roundup: One book I wanted to throw across the room (and still gave 4 stars)

Illustrated reading roundup with the words “August Reading Roundup: One book I wanted to throw across the room (and still gave 4 stars)”

August reading started with the conclusion of one of the most infuriating books I’ve read in a long time. Thankfully the remaining books I chose for the month were all pretty enjoyable, even though I did miss a few nights of reading here and there.

Whoops, yet again it looks like I didn’t choose the correct format (and spoiler: I think I’ve done the same thing for the book I’m reading in September too, whoops). They were all Kindle books again.

Five Things for Friday (vol. 10)

Illustrated header reading “Five Things for Friday (vol. 10)” with running, bookshelf, calendar and birthday icons

The last few nights I’ve found myself getting to bed, and realising yet another day has gone by. It feels like from the moment I wake up, to the moment I go to bed, things just zoom by.

I only pause when it’s time to go to sleep, and really, I’m only pausing because I have to. I want to keep doing things, and getting stuff done, and sometimes sleep just feels like a waste of time.

No points for guessing that I had bad sleep this week because I kept going to bed late, whoops.

New mission for next week: slow down, pay attention, and appreciate what time I have.

Anyway, here’s what happened in the last blink-and-you’ll-miss-it week.

I renewed my subscription to Run the World this week, a virtual run around Australia.…

Five Things for Friday (vol. 9)

I’m typing this late on Friday night, when I should be in bed, and sleeping.

But… I’m not.

Earlier, I was watching Phil Gore crack 168k in fundraising by running crazy miles. Right now I’m watching the Alex Warren concert being livestreamed on TikTok. It’s a watch party with a friend of mine who lives in Japan.

So, why not get my Five Things for Friday done on time as well?

Ordered my 2027 planner

This morning, my favourite planner in the whole world launched their 2027 edition. If you haven’t heard of my favourite planner before, let me tell you (or you can probably read literally any other post of mine because it feels like I’m always talking about it).…
