Five Things for Friday (vol. 9)

I’m typing this late on Friday night, when I should be in bed, and sleeping.

But… I’m not.

Earlier, I was watching Phil Gore crack 168k in fundraising by running crazy miles. Right now I’m watching the Alex Warren concert being livestreamed on TikTok. It’s a watch party with a friend of mine who lives in Japan.

So, why not get my Five Things for Friday done on time as well?

Ordered my 2027 planner

This morning, my favourite planner in the whole world launched their 2027 edition. If you haven’t heard of my favourite planner before, let me tell you (or you can probably read literally any other post of mine because it feels like I’m always talking about it). It’s the Saint Belford Curate planner.

I have the daily version, and I’ve bought the daily again for next year. I was debating the colours for a few days in the lead-up to the sale, and finally decided I just couldn’t go past the dark cherry. It’s so gorgeous!

I’m so excited about seeing these planners sitting next to each other on my bookshelves in a few years, when I’m on my third, fourth, fifth, etc, etc.

I was probably most excited about ordering a compendium to go with it. Especially since I can start using it with my current planner. It means that when I take it with me on the go, it’s protected! I got it in a sand colour, which basically goes with everything.

Of course, I also ordered more stickers and the separator tabs for all the months and different sections.

It will be great when it arrives, and unlike last year, the wait will be so much more bearable because I’ve still got this year’s planner to finish off.

Last year I had nothing at all. That hurt.

Doctors and surgeons and scans, oh my!

I’ve spoken on here before about not having fun with perimenopause. It’s a bitch. Well, apparently the universe heard me bitching, because now I’m getting my period every second week.

So that’s been fun…not.

Thank god for period undies.

Anyways, I finally went to the doctor to get checked to make sure there wasn’t something gross going on. She’s now referred me to a surgeon to investigate getting an ablation. The goal is that we can get that bleeding to bugger right off for a few years. We’ll switch up the progesterone tablets as well, and maybe look at some different birth control.

All I heard was “no bleeding for a few years”, and I was like HAVE AT IT.

She also sent me for a CT scan for my sinuses too. When I fly, I have to take cold & flu meds, nasal spray, and put in the earplugs, just to try and avoid feeling like someone is stabbing me through my eardrum. And it’s super easy for me to get sinus infections. Plus, the whole deviated septum thing.

I had the CT scan today, and I’m waiting for the surgeon’s office to contact me for the next steps on the ablation side of things.

So, watch this space, I suppose?

Haircut tomorrow

It’s very, very tempting to cut my hair short for spring. Talking shoulder length, so nothing too crazy. But it’s gotten long again, and it’s annoying to straighten every time (otherwise I just have a giant puffy ball of hair around my head).

We’ll see if I come up with anything crazy.

I was thinking about a side fringe again too.

I guess I’m feeling that itch that I need something different.

Blue hair, anyone?

American video is progressing

I’m excited about how much progress I’ve made this week with my US video. After scrapping it and starting from scratch, I’ve gotten back up to putting day 5 material together.

I’ve still got some bits and pieces of special things I need to do but it’s coming together really well. And when I watch it, I’m not bored anymore. Winning!

We don’t have too much planned this weekend, so hopefully I get to spend some time on it and make a big dent again.

We built a house… well, a market.

Tonight my husband and I had a glass of wine, and we made a little farmers market book nook thing that we got from Aldi.

It was so much fun!

I popped the timber pieces out, and my husband put them together.

I thought it turned out great, and it looks so cute on the shelf!

We’ve got one more to put together: a little bookstore. That one is my favourite.

I love all these little random hobbies and activities to do!

Do you have something you’re looking forward to buying? Should I get a fringe or a major haircut for spring?
