You guys, it’s been a week. I’m tired. I’m ready for bed. But I haven’t blogged in a few days so I wanted to get one posted tonight.
I’ve been trying to prioritise sleep, because most of this week my “sleep” has been more like “intermittent dozing between coughing”.
The sinus infection is still here
I want to say I’m getting better, but I don’t know. I suppose the green gunky stuff isn’t as green and gunky, so there’s that.
But I’m still taking forever to get to sleep, and I’ve nearly gone through an entire bottle of cough syrup on my own this week. I’m taking one of those fancy dry cough ones that contain dextromethorphan. Apparently, it turns off the cough signals in the brain, to which my brain just replies with “Ha! Don’t tell me what to do! I’ll cough if I want to!”
My husband finally slept on the couch last night, and had the best night’s sleep all week. I had been insisting I’d sleep out there, but he refused, and so we shared the bed. Finally, he gave in after not sleeping all week either. Sweet, but what a stubborn ass. I’ve told him to sleep on the couch again tonight, because I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be another sucky one.
I’ve also gone through an entire box of cold and flu tablets, so I thought that was enough. Starting on a second one felt a bit extreme.
Anyway, I’m trying to focus on the “less gunky” thing, and hoping I’m on the home stretch.
Glow in the dark nails
Last weekend I did treat myself to some super bright pink nails that actually glow in the dark. They’re so fun!
The image in the dark is blurry from moving my hand, but you can see how well they stand out.

I’m actually super impressed with how long the Glamrdip glow-in-the-dark colours last for. When I woke up at dumb o’clock in the morning to cough, otherwise known as 2 am, they were still glowing.
The colour is called “Enigma”, but it was part of a limited edition sale they did for their birthday. I had originally only bought a couple of glow-in-the-dark ones when they first went on sale, and a few of their temperature-changing colour ones. Needless to say, when this sale happened, I went a bit crazy and bought every last one in the set.
This set may be my longest-lasting set to date. I painted them on Sunday; it’s now Friday, and not even the slightest little crack or anything in sight. My cuticle area seems to be relatively smooth in shape as well, so I’ll be happy to let these ones grow out for a bit.
Or, at least until I get bored and want to try another colour. I still have so many colours left to try in my collection!
Crunch time on the monthly iFit challenge
I’m behind on my monthly iFit badge challenge. I’ve only done 3 rides, and there are 5 left to go. I’ve technically still got a week and a little to go, but given how cruddy I’ve been feeling, I haven’t been doing them.
I’ll have to try and do some sessions but leave it on an easy resistance level I think. But the movement would be good for me!
Work breaks and time tracking
On Monday, I decided I would spend this week really focused on getting up and stretching every 45 minutes. The whole, stop and reset thing they’re always harping on about with your workplace health and safety.
I also decided I would pair it with some time tracking, to see what I do (both work and personal).
It was great on Monday. By Tuesday, when I called in sick and went back to bed, I decided I would postpone that plan since I didn’t want my time tracking app to just report that I sleep all the time.
So, that’ll happen next week instead.
Work breaks will happen next week as well, because I promptly forgot all about it for the rest of the week and barely moved at all.
Oops.
Weekend at home
I’m rather excited that this weekend we don’t have too much planned!
We scored a free electronic standing desk (my current one I have to wind up by hand) so we’ll be picking that up tomorrow.
Other than that, it’s a free weekend. I’m going to try and use it to carve out a big chunk of my US video, and if possible, have naps. See if I can truly get over this sickness. I promise I will never take sleep for granted again.
On that note, I need to finish the craft project I’m working on so that I can go to bed.
When you feel sick, what do you realise you take for granted when you’re healthy? Do you take reasonable work breaks, or are you as slothy as I am?

Coughing and being stuffy are so annoying. My body just laughs at cough medicine, too! I hope you are feeling better so that you and your husband can catch up on sleep.
I love the glow in the dark nails! That would be really cool around Halloween. Do you ever use the nail polish strips? I just got a few and will be trying one set out this weekend.
Oooh, what are the nail polish strips? Hope they turned out great, I’m intrigued to hear about them!
Thankfully I’ve managed two decent sleeps so far so maybe I’m on the home stretch!
Ugh, sorry about the sinus infection. Taking little stretch breaks throughout the day is so smart. I was just telling a blog friend about this, to increase her mobility and flexibility. It all adds up!
Back when I was running, my hip mobility was the cause of so many issues for my knees. I completely put that down to my desk job. I had to put in so much time doing yoga to try to loosen them up, and it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s why I wore out my knee so fast (though my knee recon is the biggest factor). Mobility and flexibility are so, so important, you’re absolutely bang on about how it adds up.
Glow in the dark nails; HOW FUN!!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.
They’re so fun! I’ve got green and orange too, so I’m sure I’ll come up with some spooky idea for halloween too.
