Phew. Another month down, another giant step towards the end of the year. Let’s see how that 52 list is going (52 things to do in 52 weeks).

Use a timer to take stretch breaks at work

I mentioned recently that I did some time tracking for a week to see where my time went. Well, that was the start of getting back into the habit of having stretch breaks for work.

When you work from home, it’s very easy to fall into the bad habit of slouching and working for way too long without a break. Using a timer definitely helps with that, as did my recent upgrade to an electric standing desk. I’m finding that weeks on, I’m still using it very regularly (about 4 times today in fact, for maybe about 30-40 mins each time).…

Five Things for Friday (vol. 10)

The last few nights I’ve found myself getting to bed, and realising yet another day has gone by. It feels like from the moment I wake up, to the moment I go to bed, things just zoom by.

I only pause when it’s time to go to sleep, and really, I’m only pausing because I have to. I want to keep doing things, and getting stuff done, and sometimes sleep just feels like a waste of time.

No points for guessing that I had bad sleep this week because I kept going to bed late, whoops.

New mission for next week: slow down, pay attention, and appreciate what time I have.

Anyway, here’s what happened in the last blink-and-you’ll-miss-it week.

I renewed my subscription to Run the World this week, a virtual run around Australia.…

You guys, it’s been a week. I’m tired. I’m ready for bed. But I haven’t blogged in a few days so I wanted to get one posted tonight.

I’ve been trying to prioritise sleep, because most of this week my “sleep” has been more like “intermittent dozing between coughing”.

The sinus infection is still here

I want to say I’m getting better, but I don’t know. I suppose the green gunky stuff isn’t as green and gunky, so there’s that.

But I’m still taking forever to get to sleep, and I’ve nearly gone through an entire bottle of cough syrup on my own this week. I’m taking one of those fancy dry cough ones that contain dextromethorphan. Apparently, it turns off the cough signals in the brain, to which my brain just replies with “Ha!…

The running dream is over

Well, today wasn’t exactly a good day. I’ve been on a running hiatus after an injury suffered while training for my first marathon in 2024. After a year off, gaining weight, losing weight, and easing in to pilates to work on my strength, I booked in to see my physio and with the hopse of working towards running again.

Long story short, I’m not running again.

But let’s rewind.

How did I get here

In 2009, while playing netball, I tore my right ACL and damaged my meniscus.

Fun fact – the first doctor I saw ignored my knee, told me to take shark fin oil and lose some weight. If you’re thinking “what the actual f**k” right now, well, yeah, me too.…
