Where did all the personal blogs go?

Does anyone remember the “good ol’ days” of personal blogs? Reading about the random things going on in people’s lives, what their family has been up to, trips they’ve taken etc. Where have they gone?! I miss them!

I suppose you could say that social media replaced all that, and the microbloging stuff. But it’s such a terrible replacement.

This year my goal is to try and cut back on social media. Last year I replaced doomscrolling at night with reading, I turned off all my notifications (except messenger), and this year I’ve created a rule that I can’t read social media in bed. Is it quieter? Calmer? Boring in a good way? Do nights feel longer?

Honestly, I haven’t really missed it that much.…

Celebrating Progress

Every morning, I open my journal and choose a sticker to either represent the day ahead or spark a reflection. Today’s sticker came with a prompt about celebrating progress, and it felt like the perfect inspiration for this post.

The background

If you’re familiar with me, or my former blog, Kelly’s World, you’ll know that my weight has always been on my mind one way or another. I hate that it’s consumed so much of my life, and while I’ve played a role in that, it’s also simply been part of my reality. 52 in 52: 2026 Edition

If you’re new around here, every year I write a list of 52 things to do in 52 weeks, kind of like new years resolutions, but just a lot more of them. It doesn’t matter if I do them all, the point is to get to the end of the year, and reflect on what I did do. I also pick a “word of the year” every year too. Last year my word was “joy”, and my 52 list was very centered around that.

This year my word is “resilience”. I want to learn to be more resilient, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for my child to develop the same skills as well.…

No one need me Weekend

This weekend I stayed at home while the boys headed to my husband’s parents’ house for the weekend. I was meant to join them, but I’ve been craving some alone time for weeks now, so ultimately, they went alone. When my husband asked why I wanted to stay home, I explained that I selfishly needed to not be responsible for anyone else, and just do whatever I wanted, when I wanted.

Then, when I was out for a walk with the dog this morning, I was listening to the Kylie Kelce podcast, Not Gonna Lie. Kylie discussed a TikTok post where the woman described it as she didn’t need “me time”, she needed “no one needs me time”.

I went hunting, and I found the post so that she gets full credit:

That describes it so perfectly.…
