It’s only just past 4 pm on the Monday of the Easter long weekend, and I’m already in my pyjamas.
I’ve informed the family that we’re having a movie night. What I actually mean is that I’m going to be a sloth on the couch, and they’re welcome to join me.
This is entirely my own fault. I stayed up late last night finishing my book because I was so close to the happy ending I’d been waiting for, and apparently, my self-control is nonexistent. So now I’m tired and have no one else to blame for it.
Anyway. Time for an Easter long weekend recap.
Good Friday
This day was relatively chill. It was the only day of the whole weekend we didn’t have something social planned.
I did a heap of cleaning, wrote a blog post about body image, and then we went for a bike ride.
Unfortunately for me, I managed to develop a stomachache from the Boost Juice (guess I was just a bit too full), so I spent the night on the couch on my side until it passed.
Not the best way to finish the day, but I got a lot of reading done at least.
Easter Saturday
We headed to the markets early, which is where I had arguably my biggest tech fail in recent memory
I went to pay for Luca’s ice cream and realised I’d left my phone in the car. No phone, no Apple Pay. I turned to my son with what I can only imagine was a mildly panicked expression and said “I hope I’ve got some cash in my wallet.”
Luckily, I did. Cash. Like a person from 2003.
I can’t tell you the last time I intentionally put cash in my wallet, and I honestly can’t remember why it’s there.
When I told my husband, he asked why I didn’t have my cards in my wallet.
I do. I have my actual physical cards. In my actual physical wallet. Which I was holding. I had just completely forgotten that it was an option.
Guess who hadn’t had a coffee yet.
The rest of Saturday was hanging around at home, writing another blog post (a 52-in-52 update), working on my Capsule Wardrobe lookbook, and then hosting our friends for dinner that night, which was lovely.
Easter Sunday
The Easter Bunny visited, but it turns out our son has worked out the true source.
The kids at school had apparently been talking, and he’d overheard one of the kids say that his parents were the Easter Bunny. He asked me directly, and I refused to lie, so I told him the truth.
He just… accepted it and moved on, which surprised me.
Maybe I was sadder than he was?
It’s like another part of his childhook slipping away. He still has no idea about Santa, so I’m hoping that magic stays for another year.
We had my husband’s family over for lunch, which was the usual grand scale affair.
He’d made pulled pork and smoked chicken, there were salads, crumbed eggplant, and my personal highlight… ciabatta buns out of the pizza oven.
So good.
Insert Homer Simpson drooling gif here – that was me.
They headed off mid-afternoon, and then we went down to the river to meet my family for a BBQ dinner. We were still full from lunch, so mostly just picked at leftovers, which felt very civilised and adult of us.
It was great to see everyone. I was also very ready for bed.
And then I stayed up reading. Whoops.
Easter Monday
We met some more friends at one of the local beaches this morning. Set up the Cool Cabana (I resisted buying it for so long, and now I’m completely obsessed, as predicted), and my son played in the water while we sat and caught up.
Then the playground, then fish and chips for lunch, then home.
“Snap, back to reality, ope, there goes gravity!”
This afternoon, my husband did the grocery shopping while I finished the laundry, remade the bed with fresh sheets, and folded the clothes.
After a long and busy weekend, I am far too excited about the feeling of fresh sheets in bed tonight.
Starting off with movie night, which I just found out we’re watching Mighty Ducks 2.
Here’s hoping I make it past the opening credits. *yawn
I’ve really appreciated all the extra time I’ve had to blog over the Easter long weekend; it’s been really great to just put pen to paper and see what comes out of it.
I hope you all had amazing Easters and got to spend some quality time with loved ones.

Jammies at 4pm sounds like a lovely dream!!!
I don’t have Apple Pay (wait, do I have Apple Pay?). I am old school in that I use cards! I also use cash for certain things like the woman that does my sugaring. She works out of her house and I get a cash deal. Am I like 100 years old? Maybe!
I feel like I need to add pyjama day to my self care list, and have that as an option once a month. It was heavenly! Love that you still have options to use cash for things! I pay my hairdresser in cash too, she works out of home as well.
