Why is it so hard to get one single child ready for school? And why is it that screeching “Get your socks and shoes on” or “BRUSH YOUR TEETH” doesn’t work?
8 years old…and the skills of a distracted dog enticed by a squirrel.
This morning has been hectic. I stayed up a little bit too late for the second night in a row. Late by my standards anyway, which is “I’m not in bed by 10pm” which basically feels like an all nighter these days.
I’m working on a project that I’m super excited about, which I’ll be sure to let you know about when I can, but it means that I’m now lacking a bit of sleep. And having a child that would much rather play outside with the dog, or with his toys, or listen to music, or essentially do anything except what he’s meant to be doing, makes for a very challenging situation.
Anyways, we got to school on time, and I’m now at home with some time up my sleeve.
I’ve grabbed a coffee, a blanket (it’s finally cold in the mornings now), and I’m settling in. I’m super super behind in my blog post reading, so after I hit publish on this, it’s catch up time, baby!
My sticker of choice in my planner today:”I choose to have joy & fulfilment in my life.”
So that’s the goal today. I can confirm though – getting a child ready for school does not bring joy, and the only fulfilment is when he’s finally bloody ready!
Have you got any tips for getting kids ready in the morning? Or are you a screecher like me?
