I forgot about my everyday

Earlier this week I wrote about the loss of personal blogs, and how hard they’ve become to find. I mentioned how much I love reading about the everyday lives of others — just the mundane stuff.

And that’s when it clicked that I don’t even write about the mundane anymore.

Somewhere along the way, I started putting pressure on myself to make every post feel monumental. Super polished. Walk away, come back another day, edit it again until it’s “right”. It’s no wonder I slowly drifted away from blogging last year.

If I’m trying to teach myself to embrace imperfection, why wouldn’t that extend to my blog too?

Why can’t I write an everyday post (likely full of errors) that’s fun to write and hopefully fun to read?…

Where did all the personal blogs go?

Does anyone remember the “good ol’ days” of personal blogs? Reading about the random things going on in people’s lives, what their family has been up to, trips they’ve taken etc. Where have they gone?! I miss them!

I suppose you could say that social media replaced all that, and the microbloging stuff. But it’s such a terrible replacement.

This year my goal is to try and cut back on social media. Last year I replaced doomscrolling at night with reading, I turned off all my notifications (except messenger), and this year I’ve created a rule that I can’t read social media in bed. Is it quieter? Calmer? Boring in a good way? Do nights feel longer?

Honestly, I haven’t really missed it that much.…

Celebrating Progress

Every morning, I open my journal and choose a sticker to either represent the day ahead or spark a reflection. Today’s sticker came with a prompt about celebrating progress, and it felt like the perfect inspiration for this post.

Take a moment to revel in and celebrate the progress you’ve made towards your goals. What are you most proud of?

The background

If you’re familiar with me, or my former blog, Kelly’s World, you’ll know that my weight has always been on my mind one way or another. I hate that it’s consumed so much of my life, and while I’ve played a role in that, it’s also simply been part of my reality. I’ve been heavy, I’ve been healthy, and I’ve been diagnosed with an eating disorder.…

52 in 52: 2026 Edition

If you’re new around here, every year I write a list of 52 things to do in 52 weeks, kind of like new years resolutions, but just a lot more of them. It doesn’t matter if I do them all, the point is to get to the end of the year, and reflect on what I did do. I try to keep the list fun, but sometimes I’ll sneak some things in that are items I’ve been putting off, or just need that bit of extra motivation.

I also pick a “word of the year” every year too. Last year my word was “joy”, and my 52 list was very centered around that.

This year my word is “resilience”. I want to learn to be more resilient, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for my child to develop the same skills as well.…

2025 Wrap Up: 52 Edition

I…um…what…? How are we here? How is it the 1st of January in 2026? Where did the last year go? But, I guess we’re here, and it’s time for a yearly wrap up, the 52-in-52 edition. I remember writing this…
