Sunday morning sugar hangovers, oh my

It’s Sunday morning, and the boys are at the market (including our dog), while I’m at home alone, crafting. Sounds like a pretty nice, relaxing morning, right?

Except for the fact that because I dared to have a piece of cake and a soft drink last night at a friend’s birthday, my body is protesting. I woke up at 3 am with a cracking headache, and puffy eyes…hello sugar hangover, how not-nice to see you.

In all honesty, it is a nice, chilled-out morning. Today, the plans are to get outside again, since it’s a beautiful day. I’m hoping my son will be up for another bushwalk somewhere; otherwise, I might try to tempt him with a bike ride or something else.…

Tibrogargan Circuit Bushwalk

I’ve been consciously trying to make an effort to encourage my family to spend more time outdoors together, whether it’s bike riding, bushwalking, or…. anything outside. We didn’t have much planned for Sunday, so I suggested we spend the morning out for a hike, enjoying the crisp winter weather. The boys were keen, so the planning got underway.

After asking my husband where we should go, ultimately it was left in my hands.

Researching where to go

I knew I had a list of requirements for our walk:

  • Somewhere local – I knew the boys wouldn’t want to drive for longer than 30-40mins tops. It had to be close to home. At some point, I’m sure they’ll be keen to get further away, and we can combine it with some camping trips too.

3 Live Chats Later I’m Online

Woooohoooo, I’m officially online under the umbrella of “Kel Me About It”.

I’m seriously excited about this.

It’s been roughly a two-week ordeal to get online, but for the most part, that’s been my fault. To get here, I had to:

  1. Sign up for a new hosting plan so I save $$$$ compared to my previous hosting (pretty much what triggered this whole new-blog thing).
  2. Transfer the sites to the new hosting plan.
  3. Transfer my old domain (for my previous blog – I’m still hosting that until the domain expires next year)
  4. Register my new domain.
  5. Prove that I’m a human and sign my life away.
  6. Create a site, start editing it, realise I broke something, delete it.
  7. Do a live chat to get my old domain transferred to my site on the new hosting.

Like a new notebook, it’s a fresh start

Wow…this feels a bit different, doesn’t it? Welcome to my new personal blog! After 15-20 years of writing previously under the umbrella of “Kelly’s World” (a name chosen because I couldn’t think of anything better at the time), I find…

52 in 52: 2025 edition

About that time again, time for another 52-in-52 list!

Last year was a tough year. Mentally, it’s been one of the hardest in a while. Don’t get me wrong, there were a lot of positives and some amazing times. But I ended the year feeling extremely exhausted, and just burned out in general.

As a result, I pulled right back. I cut back on my social media – all of it – Facebook, Instagram, even reddit. I also started trying to get back into reading books. I withdrew from friends. I was frustrated in most areas of my life. I found that I started to struggle with feeling “happy”. I wasn’t writing, I wasn’t looking after myself, and I was likely not fun to be around.…
