Sarcastic planner stickers (because sometimes you just need a rude one)

This week my dog killed a possum.

I know, I know, but I swear it’s relevant to my story.

It was midnight, I was asleep, and suddenly there were grunting and banging sounds outside the bedroom window. I made my husband get up and attempt a rescue mission. He was too late. Not great for the possum, not great for my sleep, not great for the husband who got voluntold at midnight.

This latest episode of shit sleep has been on top of the usual perimenopause sleep chaos, plus a sore shoulder and a dodgy stomach thrown in for fun this week.

Yesterday I was so exhausted I ended up calling it at 10.30am and taking the day off work. In an effort to sleep better last night, I had a magnesium and lavender bath at 6.30pm, chamomile and honey tea (not sure I like that combination, to be honest), and was in bed by 8.…

Monday Mentions: the personal blogs I’ve been loving

A little while ago, I wrote a post, “Where did all the personal blogs go?” complaining about how I was struggling to find personal blogs to read and enjoy.

Since then, I’ve been on a campaign to find more.

I’ve been:

  • Stalking the comments of the blogs I already follow
  • Checking out the recommendations I got on my post (thanks Elisabeth!)
  • Following the “Blogging” sub on Reddit
  • Adding comments to posts – I love when people comment on my posts, so why not return the love and let people know I’m appreciating them

I’ve managed to find some great new blogs, which I thought I would share here.

And in doing so, create a “Monday Mentions” post theme.…

Legs Cooked, Arms Useless, Badge Incoming

Ah… Saturday morning. The temptation to just hang around in your pyjamas instead of doing the workout you’re meant to be doing.

Or maybe that’s just me.

The boys have headed off to the markets, I’ve just booked some flights for a trip later in the year, and I’ve got a hair appointment to get to shortly. There is absolutely no logical reason to be sitting here writing a blog post right now.

And yet.

The cycling badge is trying to kill me

My 52-in-52 badge for this month with iFit is a cycling one called “Let’s Race” – 8 workouts building up to a 16k race at the end. It’s part of the challenge I set myself this year to earn a workout badge every month.…

I’ve entered my perimenopause era (and I have thoughts about it)

Whoever designed the female body was a jerk.

That’s a heck of an opening, I know, but I have well and truly entered my perimenopause era, and it sucks.

Towards the end of last year, I started sleeping terribly. Like, 3 am-wake-up-like-clockwork kinda terribly. Waking feeling more exhausted than when I went to bed.

And the brain fog. I thought I was losing my mind. I started forgetting things, getting more confused…at one point, I stressed out that it was early-onset dementia. Then I worried it could have been from the Mounjaro GLP-1 injections I’ve been taking. I spiralled a bit.

Next came the joint pain, which I assumed I’d been eating too much sugar and was causing more inflammation.…

The Easter long weekend, and forgetting how to use a wallet

It’s only just past 4 pm on the Monday of the Easter long weekend, and I’m already in my pyjamas.

I’ve informed the family that we’re having a movie night. What I actually mean is that I’m going to be a sloth on the couch, and they’re welcome to join me.

This is entirely my own fault. I stayed up late last night finishing my book because I was so close to the happy ending I’d been waiting for, and apparently, my self-control is nonexistent. So now I’m tired and have no one else to blame for it.

Anyway. Time for an Easter long weekend recap.

Good Friday

This day was relatively chill. It was the only day of the whole weekend we didn’t have something social planned.…
